Set it up in five minutes
- Create the account and claim the free server; it boots on the latest Paper.
- Pick the Friends survival preset: normal difficulty, sleep when empty.
- Share the join page link from the server's Share settings, or the address for Add Server.

A friend without a Microsoft account
Keep online mode on and turn on login protection: friends on other launchers set a password at the door, everyone else joins as usual. No cracked-server risk. See login protection.
When the group grows
Five slots is the free limit. Lite, $2 a month, lifts it to 20, adds automatic backups and waits 15 minutes before sleeping. A 4 GB always-on server is $5.50 a month and takes plugins and a bigger crowd.

How many friends can join the free server?
Five at once. Lite ($2 a month) allows 20 and always-on servers set their own limit.
Can I upload our existing world?
Yes, through the file manager or SFTP; the upload guide has the steps. Single-player worlds and Realms downloads work.
What if we stop playing for a while?
The server sleeps and costs nothing. After a couple of weeks without anyone joining it is recycled to free the slot; playing on it keeps it, and Lite keeps it regardless.
Can we add plugins?
Yes: the free server runs Paper, and plugins install from the Resources tab in a click.
