Switching hosts
Bring your server with you,
world and all
Paste the SFTP or FTP details from your old host into the panel and your server pulls everything over by itself: worlds, plugins, mods, configs, whitelist. No re-uploading, no zipping, no waiting on a ticket.
Hosting from $2.50/month afterwards. 7 days free first, no card needed.
- Step 1
Get your file access details from the old host
Every panel has them: SFTP on most hosts (Pterodactyl panels, Bisect, Shockbyte, Apex), FTP on older ones such as Multicraft. You need the host, port, username and password. A zip export of the server works too.
- Step 2
Create your server here
Pick the RAM your old plan had, or a little more. Every new server starts with a 7-day free trial, so the move costs nothing until you are sure.
- Step 3
Settings → Import, paste the details, done
The server pulls your worlds, plugins or mods, configs, whitelist and ops straight from the old host. Nothing is changed over there. Start the server when the import says it is finished.
Works with the server you have
Paper, Purpur, Spigot, vanilla, Forge, Fabric and NeoForge. Modpacks from CurseForge or Modrinth. Bedrock worlds via Geyser crossplay. If it ran on a Minecraft Java server somewhere, it runs here.
Your old host is only read
The import downloads; it never writes to or deletes anything on the other side. Keep the old server running until your players are on the new address, then cancel it.
Questions people ask
- Which hosts does this work with?
- Any host that gives you SFTP or FTP access to the server folder, which is nearly all of them. If yours only offers a backup download, use the zip link option.
- What exactly is copied?
- Worlds (the nether and end too), plugins or mods with their configs, datapacks, resource packs, the whitelist, ops and ban lists, and your MOTD. Server jars, libraries, logs and the old host's launch scripts stay behind because our image provides the runtime.
- Will my version be set correctly?
- Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Forge, Fabric and NeoForge are detected from the files and set automatically when we host that exact version. Otherwise the import tells you what it found and you pick the closest version in Settings before the first start.
- How long does it take?
- A few minutes for a typical plugin server. Large modded worlds take longer; the panel shows files and gigabytes as they arrive, and you can close the tab.
- Are my old host's credentials stored?
- They are used for the one transfer and forgotten as soon as it finishes, whether it succeeded or not. Change the password on the old host afterwards if you like.
- Can you do it for me?
- Yes. Send the same details to support from the panel or on Discord and we move it by hand, usually within 24 hours, free.
