What you get on a Mumble server
A low-latency voice server for your community, on the same account as your game servers. Everything below is in the panel from the moment the server finishes installing.
- DDoS protection and NVMe storage on every server
- Daily backups with one-click restore and a file manager
- Console, scheduled tasks, team access and SFTP
- Split your RAM across as many servers as you want
Mumble server requirements
What the server needs before you pick a size. 1 GB of RAM is the minimum, and the table below sizes it by player count.
- RAM
- 1 GB minimum. Every extra gigabyte is $1 a month and can be added or removed later without a reinstall.
- CPU
- Light. Opus mixing is done by the clients; the server relays.
- Disk
- A few megabytes.
- Ports
- One port, TCP and UDP, assigned for you.
- Mods and plugins
- None. Channels, ACLs and registered users are configured from the client as SuperUser.
- Your existing world
- The user database and channel tree live on the server volume and are backed up with it.
RAM by player count
Sizing by player count. Start small and add RAM later in a couple of clicks, with no reinstall. For a Minecraft server with plugins, mods or Bedrock players, the RAM calculator sizes it from what servers hosted here use.
| Players | Recommended RAM | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 25 | 1 GB | A group or a guild, full voice quality |
| 25 to 100 | 1 GB | A community; cap the per-user bandwidth |
| 100 to 500 | 1 to 2 GB | Events; bandwidth is the limit, not memory |
Start from a preset
When you create a Mumble server, pick one of these and every setting is filled in. Change any field, or save a running server's setup as your own preset.

- Max bandwidth per user (bit/s): 558000
Community

What a Mumble server costs
You pay for RAM, not for the title: a server slot is $2.50 a month with 1 GB and 30 GB of storage, and every gigabyte after that is $1. A year is ten months. The same subscription runs Mumble today and anything else we host tomorrow.

Who can join
The honest version, so nobody buys a server their friends cannot reach.
Platforms
Any Mumble client: Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android (Mumla).
Crossplay
Every client joins the same server.
Regions and latency
Pick Europe or North America when you create the server. North America has nodes on the east coast and the west coast, Europe in the west, all on NVMe storage with DDoS protection in front. Players on the same continent as the server see 20 to 60 ms, which Mumble handles well; a group split across the Atlantic should host where most of them are. Changing region later is a backup, a new server in the other region, and a restore.
Frequently asked questions
- How much RAM does a Mumble server need?
- Almost none. The server uses a few tens of megabytes; a hundred users talking fit in the 1 GB every server slot includes. Bandwidth matters more than memory, and the panel lets you cap it per user.
- How do I administer the server?
- Connect from any Mumble client as the SuperUser with the password from the settings page (or the generated one in superuser-password.txt over SFTP), then create channels, set ACLs and register users the way Mumble does it.
- Which clients can join?
- The Mumble client on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, and Mumla on Android. Everyone joins with the address and port from the panel, plus the join password if you set one.
- Is the server listed publicly?
- No. It is not registered with the public server list; players need the address. Set a join password to keep it private.
- Can it run next to my game server?
- Yes. It is a server slot like any other on the account: the same billing, backups of its user database, and the private network your other servers share.
- What about TeamSpeak?
- TeamSpeak licenses hosting for third parties separately; Mumble is free software and needs none, which is why it is the voice server here.
