How to move your server from another host
Moving is the same everywhere: get the files, keep the software and version, change the address. On FadeHost the first part is a form.
Import
- Create the server here with the same software and Minecraft version as the old one (Paper stays Paper, Forge 1.20.1 stays Forge 1.20.1). Do not start it yet.
- More for this server, Import from another host (also under Settings, Import).
- Enter the old host’s SFTP or FTP details from its panel: host, port, username, password. Or upload a zip of the server folder.
- Pick what to pull: the world, plugins or mods, configs. The import copies straight from host to host; nothing goes through your PC.
- Start and check the console. Plugins that stored an absolute path or the old address need a config edit.
Databases
If a plugin used a MySQL database at the old host, export it there (a .sql dump) and import it into a database here: More for this server, Add a database, then the credentials go into the plugin’s config. See Databases.
Switch the address
- Players get the new address from the server page, or from the join page you share.
- Custom domain: change the SRV or A record at your DNS provider to the new address, or connect the domain in Settings, Network and let the panel manage the records. See Custom domains.
- Keep the old server up for a day while people switch.
Good to know
- A world moved from a newer Minecraft version than the server runs will not open; match the version first.
- Modded worlds need the same mods here; the import brings the mod jars along when you tick them.
- Cancel the old host after the import, not before.
